The respite of the 4th allowed me to finalize a tattoo design I’ve been working on, oh just about forever – at least three years.
I’ve had the concept I wanted, a time symbol joined with a protection symbol, but was never satisfied with the execution. This one I really like. It’s simple, direct, and nicely balances elegance and informality. To my eye it’s very “Jack Kirby” – like a sigil gleaned from one of his space gods or fantastic machines. I’ve been pouring thru his Fourth World and Eternals series and all those great Aztec-ish designs must be leaving an impression. Now I just have to finalize the size and colors and find someplace to get it done in time for Burning Man. I’m thinking of using one of the new removable tattoo places but they wait may be too long.
