Last Thursday I rushed from work to get down to Norfolk for Julie Clark’s CD release party held at the Naro Theater. What a great time! It was a great show. It was great to see Julie. And it was great to step inside the Naro Theater again, who’s interior I had not visited in over 15 years.
The show went off without a hitch. Julie sold out the 550 seats and bagged a ton of CD sales. Great work. The band sounded tight and she nailed one of the hardest parts of any show – banter between songs (you wouldn’t believe how hard that is). Afterwards she was kind enough to let me crash on her couch for a few hours before I had to race back home for work in the morning.
Julie’s new album, “Change Your Mind”, lifts her music to a new level. The production is superb, the arraignments more intersting and varied; and her lyrics achieve that elusive balance of eloquence and effortlessness. Good work Jules!
