6 weeks ago the first part of my modular synth arrived. I’ve been slowly adding module upon module and now have a fairly serviceable synth. I went with a Synthesizers.com system which is a variant of the Moog design. It’s called “large format” because the panels are 5 rack spaces high and have big knobs.
Ever since learning on an ARP 2600 I’ve wanted a modular unit. They draw you in very different directions than more conventional synths. You more construct with them than play. You mull over knobs and weaved a spaghetti tangle of connectors to create interesting tone colors that zing and blip all over the sonic spectrum. Lots of fun. I promise it will be all over the next Mesmers album and my own solo project.
