Glacial Exodus
Monday was bug out day and after hours of storing sealing packing and tear down we going into the long line to leave the site. We would wait in that line for over 5 hours. In true burning man spirit strained patience was channeled into a sort of lawn party with people exchanging drinks and treats up and down the slow-moving parade of dusty cars. In an exceedingly apropos moment we finally passed thru the exit to Black Rock City exactly at sunset (no exaggeration).
Respite in Reno
After escaping the knot of congestion we trekked to Reno to stay in the Circus Hotel for a final night with all the group together and hot showers. This was the first shower I’d had in over a week and it was great to stand under the hot water and watch the slur of playa grime, sweat, and sunblock stream off my body and swirl down the drain. Ah!
I also got to call Will for the first time in over a week. I waited it it was 5:00 a.m. in the morning and then rang him out of bed. His husky voice brought a great ease to my being, even more than the shower. I was just damn good to hear him! I don’t think I mention enough how in love with that guy I am.

Stop Off at Dave’s Parents
Dave, one of the gang from California, decided at the last minute to trek back to the East with us. Along the way we stopped at his folks home. They were quite hospitable with food, showers, and bedding for the night.
Sideling Hill
Our last sight of the trek was Sideling Hill. Located in Maryland its a great rock exposure that displays over 800 feet of strata.
